Becoming The Gardener - 2023 Goals
When I established my goals for last year, I had taken a different direction and declared it my “Snow Leopard” year. I won’t echo my reflections on this from yesterday’s post, but I did appreciate how open-ended I made that particular goal. So, this year, I’m making a broader set of goals again.
When I established my goals for last year, I had taken a different direction and declared it my “Snow Leopard” year. I won’t echo my reflections on this from yesterday’s post, but I did appreciate how open-ended I made that particular goal. So, this year, I’m making a broader set of goals again.
Currently, I am working on the Fedigardens app and Indexing Your Heart, my two major iOS projects in development. I’m also maintaining some smaller apps, like Give Me a Sniglet and Indexing Your Heart’s internal tools. In a way, I have this small garden of iOS apps that I hold close to me and want to keep developing. I need to be my own technical gardener and take care of the garden I’ve meticulously crafted.
This gardener metaphor also extends to other areas of my life I’d like to improve, too, especially in emotional, physical, and social contexts. I won’t go too deeply into those, but maintaining a healthy balance in my life and taking care of the garden that is me is critical.
Do these goals sound vague? Definitely, and it’s up for interpretation. However, the beauty of this openness is that I can focus on attaining this goal without being too harsh on myself or worrying about the specifics. It’s a way to help me accept some spontaneity in my life.
So, I guess it’s time to pick up those tools and start tilling the dirt, for it’s gardening time.
